Our mission

To create opportunities for people with disability to live, work and participate fully in their community — with dignity, choice and genuine support that adapts to each person, not the other way around.

Who we support

We work with adults and young people with disability across the Central Coast — including school leavers taking their first steps into work, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and people experiencing financial disadvantage. Every journey starts with a conversation.

Our Team

What Guides Us

Values we live by.

Person first, always

We see the person before the disability. Every plan, job and home is shaped around individual goals, strengths and choices.

Community at the heart

Founded by local families, run for local people. We keep our roots deep in the Central Coast and our doors open to it.

Quality you can trust

As an ACNC-registered charity we hold ourselves to high standards of safety, transparency and accountability — and report on it every year.

Our Story

From a family's idea to a Central Coast institution.

1965

Terama Industries is founded in Gosford by a group of local families who wanted something better for their children with disability: real work, real friendship and a real place in the community.

1970s – 80s

The workshop grows. Terama becomes a trusted employer on the Central Coast, providing supported jobs in packaging, assembly and manufacturing for dozens of local workers with disability.

1990s – 2000s

Supported accommodation opens its doors, giving residents a safe, stable home and the daily living support to build independence and lasting community connections.

2013 – 2018

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) arrives in NSW. Terama adapts its services to give participants more choice and control over the supports they receive.

Today

More than sixty years on, Terama remains a medium-sized, community-based charity registered with the ACNC — still doing what those founding families set out to do: good work, a real home, a community that cares.

Governance & Transparency

A charity you can hold to account.

We believe trust is earned in the open. Here's how Terama is run and overseen.

a.
Registered charity
Terama Industries Inc is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and meets its ongoing governance and reporting obligations. ABN 17 718 487 824.
b.
Community board
We are governed by a voluntary board of Central Coast community members who provide oversight, set strategy and safeguard our mission for the next generation.
c.
Annual reporting
Our activities and finances are reported publicly through the ACNC Charity Register each year, so families, partners and supporters can see exactly what we do.
d.
Not-for-profit, always
Every dollar Terama earns is reinvested into supports, jobs and homes for people with disability. There are no shareholders — only the community we serve.
